SciServer offers access to the dataset of the Poseidon Project, a suite of global and regional oceanographic simulations.

Poseidon

What it is: SciServer hosts numerical model output of high-resolution Ocean General Circulation Models (GCMs) set up and run by the research group of Prof. Thomas W. N. Haine (Johns Hopkins University – Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences) and collaborators. These models allow users to trace the physical evolution of ocean currents across orders of magnitude in space and time, and to quickly analyze important aspects of ocean fluid dynamics in conjunction with observational data. The Ocean Circulation (ceph) data volume consists of several global and regional MITgcm ocean circulation model solutions, at various resolutions. See the list of datasets with access instructions on the datasets page of the Poseidon Project website (note that LLC4320 and DYAMOND datasets are mounted on the Poseidon (ceph) and Poseidon DYAMOND (ceph) data volumes, respectively).

How to access: Create a SciServer Compute container using the Oceanography compute image and mount the Poseidon (ceph), Ocean Circulation (ceph), and/or Poseidon DYAMOND (ceph) data volumes.
